Abstract

1424838 Storing newspaper; deliverying sheets HARRIS CORP 24 Oct 1973 [1 Nov 1972] 49628/73 Headings B8C and B8R A method of storing newspapers comprises positioning the newspapers 12 in overlapping relationship on trays 38, Fig. 4, which have inclined end support surfaces 48 against which the rows of newspapers lie, stacking the trays upon one another in a frame 26, Figs. 1 and 4, and urging the top tray downwardly to hold the newspapers against movement. A bar or strap extends across the top of the frame and is connected to a toggle type latch assembly to pull it down against the top layer of newspapers. Underneath each tray at the end opposite to the surface 48 is another inclined surface 68 which bears against the last newspaper on the tray beneath. Newspapers 12, Fig. 1, are transferred from a shingled stream 16 by a conveyer 22 on to a support tray 14 having a base section 38 and an end block 44 having an inclined surface to position the newspapers at an angle to the base. The tray 14 is then moved into the frame 26.
