Abstract

1424035 Cartons KLIKLOK CORP 30 Jan 1973 [14 April 1972] 4690/73 Heading B8P [Also in Division B5] A carton has a bottom panel 13, a pair of side panels 14, 15 and end flaps 18, 18<SP>1</SP> articulated to the bottom panel, and major and minor end panels 16, 16<SP>1</SP>, 19, 19<SP>1</SP> articulated to the side panels, each end flap being bonded by an adhesive strip A3 at its base to the major panel and having a guide tab 40 or 40<SP>1</SP>. The carton may be formed from a blank having inwardly embossed score lines and coated on both sides with polythene. There may be an extra coating along the score lines. The blank is heated by hot air from nozzle boxes 31-33, 31<SP>1</SP>-33<SP>1</SP> to render the coating tacky in selected areas before the blank is folded by plunger and die mechanism. The end flaps are folded inwardly by the major end panels contacting the tabs 40, 40<SP>1</SP>. In the folded box one edge of each flap 18 abuts the fold line of the major end panel 16 while an edge of each major end panel 16 abuts the fold line of a minor end panel 19. The embossing of the fold line together with caulking from the coating produces a liquid tight seal. The cut lines between the flaps 18 and the end panels do not extend to the centre of the score lines between the flaps and end panels and the base and side panels 50 so that the blank puckers at the corner and prevents a pin hole leak.
