Abstract

1424001 Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure GRUNDY (TEDDINGTON) Ltd 12 April 1973 [13 April 1972] 17158/72 Heading F1R [Also in Division F2] A dispensing fitting for attachment to a container containing liquid, e.g. beer, the fitting facilitating the application of pressurized gas to the interior of the container and the dispensation of liquid from the container, comprises a main body 17 adapted to be fitted around the discharge outlet of the container and having a bore accommodating a slidable plunger 20, the inner end of the plunger being adapted to bear on a valve 14, 15 in the container outlet. Pressurized gas from a cartridge (not shown) accomodated in a housing 24, 25 is supplied via a hollow needle 27, a valve 28 controlled by a spring-biased piston 26a, a cylinder space 3, a flexible pipe 30 and into the bore of the body 17 between two packing rings 31, 31a. Upon movement of a lever 23 to the discharge position, Fig. 2 (not shown) the plunger 20 is depressed and the packing ring 31a enters an enlargement 32 of the bore thus allowing entry of gas to the container via the valve 14, 15 which is opened by the plunger 20 and through apertures 33. Gas pressure acting on the liquid discharges it via a dip tube 13, a bore 21 in the plunger 20 and discharge pipe 21a. A port 24a is provided in the housing 24 to vent the space S to atmosphere upon failure of the valve 28.
