1293195 Dispensing liquids by gaseous pressure SOC D'EXPLOITATIONS ET DE REALISATIONS INDUSTRIELLES ET COMMERCIALES 17 June 1970 [19 June 1969] 29436/70 Heading FIR [Also in Division F2] A siphon valve stopper for fitting to a glass bottle comprises a CO 2 cartridge 31 whose gas pressure is reduced and regulated by a device 30 which includes a regulating piston 66 in a lowpressure chamber 67 controlling a check-valve 63, the device 30 also being adjustable so that the valve 63 acts as a stop valve. Before fitting to a bottle a knob 94 is rotated to raise piston 66 so allowing the check-valve 63 to engage a seat 57b and the cartridge 31 is pierced by a perforator 55. After fitting, the knob 94 is counter-rotated causing the piston 66 to engage a rod 63a and unseat the check-valve 63 to allow gas to flow through an opening 62 and ducts 71, 72 to the bottle's interior. Should the pressure in chamber 67, which may be pre-set by a screw 69, become too great the piston 66 rises and uncovers an orifice 99 so venting the gas to atmosphere. The stopper is held in place on the bottle by a bung 51 and a spring 7. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2, the cartridge 31 is located in a removable housing 117b forming part of a handle the remainder of which houses the device 30. The stopper is held in place by an annular sealing ring 113 and a threaded clamping collar 114. Openings in the screw 69 and a groove 126 in the wall above the low-pressure chamber 67, permit venting of the gas. Delivery of the bottle's contents is controlled by a piston valve 102 operated by a spring- biased push button 103.
