Abstract

1422014 Fixing electrostatic toner images RICOH KK 13 April 1973 [11 May 1972] 17860/73 Heading G2H Powder toner images on copy sheets are fixed by passage of the sheets between rollers, at least one of the rollers being heated and the roller mounts being so aranged that expansion of the rollers on heating leads to no more than a limited separation of their axes before resistance is encountered. As a result, the images are fixed by a combination of heat and pressure. Stops or cams may be used to limit the separation of the rollers, and springs may be used to apply a bias which increases with separation.
