Abstract

[Also in Divisions G2 and H5] An image-wise exposed heat-sensitive paper sheet or web 28 is developed by passing it at constant speed around roller 1 situated in a bed of particulate material 11 (e.g. aluminium particles, stainless steel or glass beads or steel balls) heated by thermostatically controlled sheathed heaters 12, 12a, 12b. The paper is held against roller 1 by guide wires 3 tensioned by springs 7. The bed is surrounded by a chamber 14 of heat-insulating material 15. The paper is fed to roller by rollers 19, 20 and guide plate 21 and removed from roller 1 by rollers 22,23 and guide plate 24. Cover 27 is filled with heat insulating material. The speed of roller 1 is adjustable.
