Abstract

1421889 Knitting machines WIRKMASCHINENBAU KARL-MARX-STADT VEB 7 Aug 1974 [9 Aug 1973] 34786/74 Heading D1C Take down apparatus in a circular knitting machine comprises a fabric advancing roller 14 and a friction roller 18 which drivingly engages the periphery of wound fabric 29 on a winding roller 19, the rollers 14, 18 being driven through respective slipping clutches 9, 10 from a common drive-wheel 7. The wheel 7 is driven through a chain 6 from a bevel gear 4 which revolves within the stationary machine frame 1 in mesh with a stationary bevel gear 2 mounted thereon. The rollers 14, 18 are driven through chains 12, 16 from friction discs 9, 10 urged by plate spring assemblies 21, 28 against the wheel 7. The spring assembly 21 is adjustable by a nut 20 while the spring assembly is automatically controlled by a cam 23 to increase the torque transmitted by the disc 10 as the wound fabric 29 increases in diameter and displaces the roller 19 upwardly, thereby ensuring constant fabric tension.
