Abstract

1420786 Tractor hitches H G POOLE 6 May 1974 [4 May 1973] 21378/73 Addition to 1386084 Heading A1P [Also in Division B7] In an improvement in, or modification of, the towing connection of Specification 1386084 the coupling post 13 is mounted for swinging movement about an axis extending transversely of the towing vehicle by means of a rigid frame 10 which is generally U-shaped in plan. In the first embodiment, Figs. 1 and 2, the post 13 is mounted for pivotal movement about an axis extending generally longitudinally of the towing vehicle by means of a pin (not shown) extending between cross-members 12. The limbs 11 of the frame 10 are pivotally supported by bosses 18 on lugs 20 extending from the rear axle housing 21 of the towing vehicle. The frame 10 may be raised and lowered by means of links 22 and hydraulically-operated arms 23. In the second embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the generally U- shaped frame is strengthened by bracing struts (25) extending between the arms (11) and a cross-member 12.
