Abstract

Scrapers and like tools.-A scraper or tool for inserting in sparking plugs to remove carbon deposit comprises a tube having one or more slots to enable it to pass the plug points, the slots being widened or shaped at the inner part to allow an oscillating motion of the tool. In the tool for single point plugs shown in Fig. 2, the slot 3 is widened at 7, the end 2 is shaped to form a handle, and the operative end 1 may have axially projecting teeth to facilitate craning. In a modified form for three point plugs, Fig. 4, the three slots 8 have helical extensions 9. The edges of the slots may be bent inwardly for clearing the exterior surface of the insulation, or outwardly for cleaning the interior metal part of the plug. Where the insulating part of the plug is tapered, the tool may be correspondingly shaped, or the bent edges of the slots adapted to engage the tapered part. The tool may be made from sheet or tubular metal.
