Abstract

1417679 Rolling mills TH KIESERLING & ALBRECHT 10 May 1974 [11 May 1973] 20784/74 Heading B3M The rolls 11 of a roll stand are each supported on a shaft 7 which is axially movable to allow easy replacement of the roll. Each roll is housed in a cylindrical portion 5 of a cross-beam 1 or 2, the beams being connected by uprights 3 and 4. The roll is supported on the extension 7a of the shaft 7 and is held between a shaft flange 7b and a cup-shaped support 12. When the roll is to be removed, a piston 6 which supports the shaft by bearings 8-10 is moved to the left by feeding fluid to a conduit 18, thereby withdrawing the extension 7a from the roll. When a new roll has been inserted in the stand, it can be axially adjusted by rotating a threaded sleeve 16 and thus moving the support 12 axially.
