Abstract

1,055,755. Rolling mills. SCHLOEMANN A.G. June 9, 1965 [June 23, 1964], No. 24347/65. Heading B3M. A multi-roll stand comprises driven backing rolls 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, supporting rollers 4, frictionally driven by rolls 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, intermediate rolls 10, 10<SP>1</SP> frictionally driven by rollers 4, reversing rolls 11, 11<SP>1</SP> and work rolls 9, 9<SP>1</SP> frictionally driven by rolls 10, 10<SP>1</SP>. Rolls 2, 21 are journalled in chocks 3, 3<SP>1</SP> and rollers 4 are carried by spindles 6 supported in comb-like girders 5, 5<SP>1</SP> displaceably mounted on bridges 7 connecting housings 1, 1<SP>1</SP>. Rollers 4 are held in engagement with rolls 2, 2<SP>1</SP> by fluid pressure cylinders 8, Fig. 2 (not shown). Rolls 10, 10<SP>1</SP> are supported by levers 13, 13<SP>1</SP>, 14, 14<SP>1</SP> and are held in engagement with rollers 4 by fluid pressure cylinders 17. Upper work roll 9 is held in contact with roll 10, Fig. 5 (not shown), by levers 22 actuated by cylinders 26.
