1416159 Forming yams MITSUBISHI RAYON CO Ltd 12 Dec 1972 [20 Dec 1971 21 Dec 1971] 57370/72 Headings D1F and D1W Single or composite yarn comprises one strand or two or more strands of different type e.g. of the same material but different construction, formed from multifilaments and combined in cored, intertwisted and/or mixed filament assembly, the strand or at least one componental strand having multiple alternate S- and Z-twist regions retained successively along the length thereof with some of the component filaments partially fused to each other. The yarn may not possess crimp or crimp may be present throughout the yarn or in sections or one or more constituent strands thereof. The yarn is formed by falsetwisting and heating at elevated temperature as selected (or calculated by use of a stated formula) in relation to the density and the degree of the double refraction characteristic of filaments comprising the strand(s). The latter may be pretwisted in the same direction as, but to a twist number of one half or less of, the subsequent false-twist. The filaments may be of synthetic thermoplastic material such as drawn or undrawn polyester or cellulose triacetate and of various cross-sectional forms.
