Abstract
1411728 Valves RELF RESEARCH Ltd 14 March 1974 [15 March 1973] 11399/74 Heading F2V A stop valve in a domestic hot water system comprises a body 3 having an inlet 6, outlet 15 and a seat 5 against which a valve member 9 is biased by a spring 12 bearing on a collar 13 on the valve stem 8. The valve can be opened by screwing a threaded cap 17 on to body 3 such that cap abutment 19 bears on collar 13 to unseat valve member 9. An 0-ring 20 prevents leakage past cap 20. Valve member 9 or seat 5 may also be provided with an 0-ring. A nylon gauze filter 14 surrounds spring 11 and can be purged of dirt by depressing collar 13 with cap 17 removed. A pressure reducing valve (1, Figs. 1, 3, not shown) may be connected by a nut (28) to outlet 15, the latter having a seat 22 for the reducing valve member (24). Most of the valve parts are of plastics material.
