1411296 Laminated conveyer belt INDUSTRIE PIRELLI SpA 7 Dec 1972 [17 Dec 1971] 56535/72 Heading B5N A conveyer belt comprises a reinforcement structure comprising at least one layer 4 constituted by a plurality of coplanar cords 5 embedded in elastomeric or plastics material such that the cords are parallel to one another and to the longitudinal axis of the belt and two layers 2 and 7 of fabric having an extensibility in the longitudinal direction of the belt substantially greater than the layer or layers of coplanar cords, one layer of fabric being provided at each outer face of the coplanar cord layer or layers, a layer 3, 6 of elastomeric or plastics material interposed between said coplanar cord layer or layers and each layer of fabric wherein the ratio between the thickness of each said layer of elastomeric or plastics material and the diameter of the coplanar cords is smaller than 0À166 and in that the ratio between adjacent cords of the coplanar cord layer or layers, measured between their axes, and the diameter of each of the said cords ranges from 1À5 to 6. In the embodiment shown, each outer face of the belt is covered with a layer 1, 8 of elastomeric or plastics material, the two layers 1 and 8 optionally having different thicknesses. In a further embodiment, two adjacent layers of embedded cords are provided. The fabric layers 2 and 7 may each comprise woven fabrics, the warp threads, e.g. of nylon, being parallel to cords 5 of layer 4 and the weft threads, e.g. of nylon or cotton/nylon, having an extensibility less than that of the warp threads. Alternatively, the fabric layers may each comprise cord fabrics wherein the cords are of cotton/nylon or nylon arranged transversely or on the bias to the longitudinal axis of the belt.
