Abstract

1410993 Stud and socket fastenings ALTON GLASSHOUSES Ltd 30 July 1973 [1 Aug 1972] 35784/72 Heading E2B A greenhouse or like structure constructed from a structural assembly comprises a plurality of rigid members 1, 9 connected together by removable studs 13, each member having elongate openings 3a, 12 in register and longitudinally aligned with the marginal parts of each member defining the openings overlying one another. Each stud comprises a head 14 adapted for manual rotation and having an abutment face 17 engaging with the outer face of the marginal part of the member 9, a shank 16 extending from the head and through the aligned openings, and at least one lug 18 extending laterally from the free end of the shank engaging with that adjacent outer face of the marginal part of the member 1 which extends transversely to the longitudinal axis of the aligned openings. The lug has an inclined cam face 19 in such latter engagement and the assembly is such that in the locked position the members are held tightly together between the abutment and the cam face, but when the stud is rotated so that the axis of the lug is aligned with the longitudinal axis of the aligned openings the stud may be removed to disconnect the members. The stud may be made from plastics material and be provided with a square or hexagonal formation 15 or a screw-driver slot or other recess.
