Abstract

1409839 Pulping apparatus HOBART MFG CO 25 Sept 1973 44892/73 Heading B2A [Also in Division Gl] Comminuting apparatus comprises a tank 11, Fig. 1 with an impeller 18 having upstanding teeth 25 a surrounding screen ring 23 and a valve 13 in a liquid inlet 12 which controls liquid level in response to air pressure changes in a closed-ended tube 30, Fig. 2 connected at its bottom end to the tank. Pressure is sensed by a diaphragm-operated switch 41, 43, 44. A restrictor 37 in the tube prevents minor fluctuations affecting the valve. The restricter may comprise a pack of metal granules porous to air. The tank includes a feed inlet 14 for solids e.g. trash or waste, provided with flaps 15 hanging from the upper end of the opening.
