Abstract
1468300 Centrifuge and discharge FIVESCAIL BABCOCK 20 Sept 1974 [27 Sept 1973] 41114/74 Addition to 1416093 Heading B1D A screen centrifuge and discharge device of a patent of addition to 1416093 comprises a centrifuge for separating solid particles from liquid and a discharge device comprising a vessel 10 receiving solid particles from the centrifuge, a hopper 12 and a vibrator 20 attached thereto, a discharge conduit 16 and a valve 22. The centrifuge and discharge device is pressurised with gas which forces particles from swivellable outlet 28 when valve 22 is opened. Conduit 16 is long enough to reduce power consumption (through loss of gas) in discharge device to a minimum compared to power requirements of centrifuge. Vibrator prevents particles sticking in hoppers and is isolated from centrifuge and/or conduit by flexible sleeve 14. A second valve 18 may be fitted. Level sensors (e.g. gamma ray) 26 and 24 maintain level between ml and m2 through controlled valve 22. Centrifuge feed is switched off if level reaches m3 or an alarm is given. Valve 22 may be a deformable diaphragm valve. The centrifuge may be a sugar centrifuge.
