Abstract

1406074 Centrifugal pumps; reciprocating pumps MUNSTER SIMMS ENG Ltd 12 July 1973 [26 Aug 1972] 39903/72 Headings FIA and F1C A centrifugal pump having an impeller 23 mounted in a cylindrical casing 26 with an axial inlet 36 and a radial or tangential outlet 38, is primed by a diaphragm pump including a casing 10 having an annular wall 12 over which a diaphragm is secured , as by a worm-drive hose clip 14, the diaphragm being spring-biased to an outward position relative to the casing. The diaphragm 13 is foot-operated. An inlet nozzle 32 and the centrifugal pump casing 26 may be screwed into the casing 10 as shown so as to clamp the inlet and outlet non-return valves 33, 39 into place. Instead of being located entirely downstream of the diaphragm pump, the centrifugal pump may be located immediately downstream of the inlet valve.
