Abstract
1405000 Making electrode frameworks DEUTSCHE AUTOMOBIL GmbH 30 Nov 1972 [4 Dec 1971] 55337/72 Heading B3A [Also in Divisions C7 and H1] An electrode frame for use in galvanic elements such as fuel cells and accumulators is made by thermally decomposing in a heated tube a gas mixture of nickel carbonyl and a cold inert gas in a volume ratio of 1 : 1 to 1 : 100 to form a bulky mosslike form of Ni which is then mechanically pressed or rolled and sintered, preferably at 400-800‹ C. The deposited Ni may be heat treated at 300-600‹ C. under H 2 or a vacuum prior to or during pressing or rolling and the pressed or rolled body can be sinter bonded to a Ni mesh, plate or perforated plate. The frame is then impregnated with Ni(OH) 2 .
