Abstract

1402366 Washing machines WILKINS & MITCHELL Ltd 30 Jan 1974 [23 Feb 1973] 8872/73 Heading D1A A filter assembly 14 comprising a stepped removable filter element 29 in a housing 15 is mounted on the casing 12 of a washing machine having an agitator in a tub 11, liquid being withdrawn from the tub and supplied to the fitler inlet 36 by a pump and returning to the tub under gravity. As shown the assembly has a removable element 29 with perforated base part 33 and walls 43, 32, and non-perforated upper base part 31 and upper walls 34, 37, incoming liquid being directed from the inlet 36 along the part 31 from which it flows over the edge 39 and through the perforated part to reduce foaming and thence through the open bottom 19 of the housing 15.
