Abstract

1402049 Polypropylene compositions STAMICARBON BV 18 Dec 1973 [22 Dec 1972 (2)] 58482/73 Heading C3P Compositions comprise (1) at least 75 weight per cent of polypropylene, (2) 5 to 15 weight per cent of polyethylene and (3) 5 to 15 weight per cent of a rubbery ethylene/propylene copolymer having an elongation at break of at least 400% and a tensile strength of at least 5 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>. The polypropylene may be a homopolymer or copolymer with a minor proportion of ethylene or butene-1, and the polyethylene may be a homopolymer or a copolymer with a minor proportion of butene-1. The copolymer may be a terpolymer with a non-conjugated diene, e.g. ethylidene norbornene, vinyl norbornene, dicyclopentadiene or hexadiene-1,4, or with a C 4-8 α-olefin. The compositions may also contain stabilizers, antioxidants and slip agents, and may be made into impact resistant mouldings.
