Abstract
140,074. Foehl, G. A., (Assignee of Porter, J. L.). March 20, 1918, [Convention date]. Electro-magnets.-An electro-magnetic device for re-magnetizing the permanent magnets of a Ford magneto comprises an equal number of parallel cores 3 formed integral with a ring 2 mounted within a box 1. The coils 5 on the cores 3 en each half of the ring are connected in series, adjacent coils being wound in opposite directions, and the two series of coils are connected in series or parallel depending upon the voltage of the supply mains to which the terminals 6, 7 are connected. Where the suppiy current is alternating, it is first rectified before being passed through the coils 5. The strength of the current is regulated by means of a rheostat 10. The fly-wheel and magnets of the Ford magneto may be removed from the vehicle and placed in contact with the ends of the cores 3, or the magnets may be remagnetized without removing them.
