Abstract
1499554 Centrifugal liquid/liquid extractor K B SELIVERSTOV A I SOLODOV V E KONOVALOV B N PARFANOVICH B A PONYATOVSKY and I G PANINA 11 Sept 1975 37372/75 Heading B1F A centrifugal liquid-liquid extractor comprises a pair of coaxial rotors 2 and 6 mounted for relative rotation, outer rotor 2 having annular partitions 3 defining alternate mixing and separation zones, inner rotor 6 having discs 7 extending into the mixing zones so as to overlap with partitions 3, each disc 7 having a plurality of mixing paddles extending radially along substantially the whole of the area of overlap. Rotor 6 may also carry radial ribs 12 in the separation zones which support annular elements 13. Rotor 2 may be rotated by an electric motor and the rotary motion imparted thereby via the rotating liquids to the inner rotor 6 controllably slowed down by a hydraulic brake comprising a hydraulic pump (22, Fig. 2, not shown) which circulates oil through a circuit comprising a vessel (25) and a throttle (26).
