Abstract
1491193 Surgical instruments R B W LOWNDES 1 Nov 1974 [3 Aug 1973] 37071/73 Heading A5R A device for insertion into a catheter puncture tract comprises a rod or tube 12 for placement in the tract and a head having a disc-portion 10 having a cylindrical boss 11 extending from one surface and an annular groove or shallow recess for receiving antibiotic ointment on the other surface 10a, the rod 12 having one end received in an axial bore in the head and retained by a pin engaging in a transverse bore in the boss 11. The rod may be replaced by a tube which may have a luer fitment. A recess may be provided on the head instead of the groove. The boss 11 and the edges of disc 10 may be milled to aid withdrawal. The rod may be fluted so that medication may be applied to the tract.
