Abstract

1490756 Open end spinners with multiple sliver feed VYZKUMNY USTAV BAVLNARSKY 20 March 1975 [3 April 1974 (3)] 11552/75 Headings DID DIF and DIN An open-end spinning apparatus comprising a spinning rotor I and a fibre separating device, is provided with means for supplying to the fibre separating device at least two slivers 12 out of which separate flows of separated fibres are formed, these fibres being united to form a single combined flow 11 of separated fibres before entering the spinning rotor 1. The fibre separating device comprises at least one combing-out cylinder 7 received in a cavity 6, the rotational axis of the cylinder 7 and the axis of the rotor 1 being skew lines. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, two combing- out cylinders 7 are provided and protrude into a common fibre feeding duct 8 partially penetrating into the interior of the rotor 1. Two slivers 12 are fed to the cylinders 7 by devices each comprising a positively driven feed roller 14 and a pressure element 15 or 16. The element 15 comprises a shoe and the element 16 a second roller. Condensers 13 shape the slivers 12 to approximately rectangular form. The separated fibres are stripped from the cylinders 7 in zones 10 and are combined in the duct 8. In another embodiment, Fig. 2, two or more slivers 12 are each fed from a condenser 13 by a driven roller 14 and a pressure shoe 15 to a single cylinder 7. The two separated fibre flows are united downstream of the second feed device to form a single flow in the duct 8. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3, two sideby-side fibre feeding devices cooperate with a single cylinder 7 and are formed by two coaxial driven rollers 14 and two coaxial pressure rollers 16. The condenser 13 comprises two side-by-side shaping ducts. More than two slivers may be combined using as many coaxial feed and pressure rollers and condenser ducts as required. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the condenser (13) comprises individual sections and the feed roller (14) comprises grooved sections having unaligned grooves. In another modification, Fig. 8 (not shown), the coaxial pressure rollers (16) are individually spring loaded. In a still further embodiment, Fig. 4, a single feeding device, comprising a driven roller 14 and a pressure shoe 15 having a fork 17 for guiding two separate slivers, cooperates with a single cylinder 7. The condenser 13 has two shaping ducts. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), a single feed roller (14) is provided but is engaged by two separate spring-loaded shoes 15, the pressure of which is adjustable. In any embodiment other than those of Figs. 1 and 2, the cylinder 7 may be provided with a surface of saw-teeth 18, Fig. 9, and is divided into two sections 19 having differently shaped teeth. In any embodiments, the slivers may be of different fibre types, e.g. slivers of cotton and viscose rayon are specified.
