Abstract

1489120 Gas burners SELAS CORP OF AMERICA 3 June 1975 [3 Oct 1974] 23997/75 Heading F4T A noise suppressed gas burner comprises a mixing chamber 3 for gas and air, an elongate passage leading from the chamber towards a furnace 1 and an inlet passageway for the air which is lined with sound absorbing material 24, 26. Chamber 3 includes a venturi portion 3 inserted in the furnace wall 1, 2, and a cylindrical casing 17, 21, spaced from the bell 7 of portion 3, the layer 24 of sound absorbing material surrounding the bell, thus forming the annular primary air passage between the materials 24, 26, and means 11 to discharge gas under pressure into the bell. An axially-adjustable secondary air shutter 5, and an axially-adjustable primary air shutter 13, are provided, the latter also having sound absorbing material 28 fixed thereon. The end face of casing part 17 has a central opening 22 and a plurality of arcuate openings 23, through which the primary air flows.
