Abstract

1488418 Spiked junction plates J M GUISLAIN 17 April 1975 [18 April 1974] 15847/75 Heading F2H In a plate 3 for straddling two wooden members 1, 2, e.g. of a beam or truss to join them together and comprising a sheet-steel component having punched-cut teeth 4, 12, main teeth 4 are provided which have narrow leading portions 5 for positioning and locating the plate relative to the members 1, 2 and wider base portions 6 adapted to be forced into the members 1, 2 under the action of a press, for withstanding forces between the members, and auxiliary teeth 12 are provided which are less wide than the main teeth 4 and as long as the wider portions 6. Preferably the main teeth 4 are curved transversely and inclined longitudinally as shown, the main teeth 4a, 4b on opposite halves of the plate being inclined in opposite directions such that when the teeth 4 are driven into the members 1, 2 the members are urged together. The provision of die-stamped projections 9 on the plate at the bases the teeth 4, 12 enhance this effect. The cut-outs 13 left by the auxiliary teeth 12 are transversely aligned with the narrow portions of the cut-outs 14 left by the main teeth 4. The auxiliary teeth 12 may be asymmetric about their longitudinal axes.
