Abstract

1487315 Power-assisted steering mechanism ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN AG 27 Feb 1976 [28 Feb 1975] 07833/76 Heading B7H In power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering mechanism to which pressure fluid is supplied by a central hydraulic system including a pressure accumulator 5, a servomotor 18 having a piston 20 with twice as much effective surface on one side as on the other is connected to a control valve 6 through a directional valve 19 by means of which the surfaces on both sides of the piston 20 are pressurized when steering in one direction and only the smaller surface is pressurized when steering in the other direction. The central hydraulic system includes a pump 1 connected to the accumulator 5 through a charging valve 3, and in addition to supplying the steering mechanism through a line 7 it supplies a braking system and a level control system through lines 8, 9.
