Abstract
1485982 Communications cables COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS Ltd 6 March 1975 [15 March 1974] 11600/74 Heading H1A A communications cable comprises a core section formed from three pairs of twisted high frequency insulated conductors 1-3 and three pairs of audio frequency conductors 4-6 in the interstices between the conductors of each pair of high frequency conductors and an outer section formed from nine pairs of twisted high frequency insulated conductors 8-16 arranged around the core section. Insulating material surrounds the conductor bundle formed from a first layer 17, e.g. one or more strips of polyethylene terephthalate, and further layers 18, 19 of polyethylene, the average radial thickness of the polyethylene being 0À06 or 0À03 inch if a screen, e.g. A1 or Cu is located between the layers 18 and 19. Audio frequency conductors may be added to the nine conductors 8-16 of the outer section as in the core section. In both sections the audio frequency conductors, including insulation if present, have a diameter not more than 2/3 of that of the high frequency conductors. Examples of the copper conductor and the polyethylene insulation dimensions are given. A plastics film 7 may be provided between the core and outer sections. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1.059,342 and 1,059,343.
