Abstract

1484509 Temperature sensitive doctoring device XEROX CORP 20 Nov 1974 50314/74 Heading G2H Temperature sensitive doctoring device for doctoring a liquid developer applicator roll 4 in an electrostatographic copying device, wherein the roll after removal of liquid developer from the raised portions thereof is contacted with an imaging surface 18, comprises a set of jaws 8 wherein one of the jaws 10 is stationary and the other is connected by extendable linkages 2, 2a to the doctoring means 7 and to means 3 operated by a cam 5 for repeatedly moving the jaws to a closed position so as to bring the doctor blade 11 into contact with the roll 4, the closure of the jaws 8 being limited by a device 14 movable between the jaws, the position of which is governed by a temperature responsive device e.g. a bi-metallic strip 13, a torque converter (22) or resistor (24), Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), the movement being such as to decrease the pressure of the blade 11 at lower temperatures. In the device of Fig. 4, the current from the temperature sensitive resistor (24) is directed to a voice coil (25) positioned on a yoke (27) supporting a diaphragm (28) which is connected to interposer (14).
