Abstract

1483744 D.C.-D.C. conversion LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS GmbH 21 Nov 1974 [23 Nov 1973] 50540/74 Heading H2F [Also in Division H3] Current to a load 10 is switched by a blocking oscillator 5 which is switched on by the cessation of current in winding 4 when control transistor 6 is cut-off by a control pulse 12. At the end of the control pulse, transistor 6 conducts and capacitor 13 discharges to speed the build-up of current in winding 4 and the flushing of charge carriers from the base of transistor 5. Initially, current is supplied to winding 4 through parallel resistors 17, 18, but when the core of transformer 1 saturates the voltage across winding 4 falls to a low value and control circuit 16 switches off transistor 19 so that winding 4 is supplied through the higher resistance 17 only. The power supplied to load 10 may be varied by varying the width of pulse 12.
