Abstract

1482962 Selective printing MONARCH MARKING SYSTEMS Inc 3 Sept 1974 [15 Oct 1973] 38551/74 Heading B6F A printer includes a type band 13 with types 24 and corresponding human readable indicia 27, large lugs 31 located only beneath the section of the band carrying the indicia 27 and a drive wheel 12 with notches 19 to receive the lugs 31 and knurling 20 between the notches. In operation the wheel 12 is rotated to effect type selection, the band being moved by engagement of the notches 19 and lugs 31. However in the event the band is moved so no notch and lug are in engagement then (in Fig. 1) the knurling 20 engages grooves 28 or alternatively (in Fig. 7) the knurling 20 engages the smooth portion 28a of the band to effect a driving connection.
