Abstract
1481687 Spot-type disc brakes AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS Ltd 20 Sept 1974 [21 Sept 1973] 44340/73 Heading F2E The brake comprises a support structure 18, 30, Figs. 2, 3, which supports a piston-andcylinder arrangement 34-36 and includes a first portion 31 which is connected to the latter, a second portion 18 which is adapted to be connected to a component (not shown) of a vehicle suspension, and a third portion 16 which is one of the races of a wheel bearing assembly and which is between the first and second portions so that reaction of the apphcation of a brake pad 42 by the piston-and-cylinder arrangement is transmitted to the vehicle suspension via the support structure. As shown, a second brake pad 43 is engaged by a plate 40 of closed loop construction, the plate being supported for rectilinear movement by tongues 45, Fig. 1, and by a spring-supported pin 52 which is slidable in a slot in part 51 of an angled plate 47 secured to a flange 33 of the support structure. The wheel 12, &c., to which the brake is applied may be steerable.
