Abstract

1,247,261. Spot-type disc brakes. ALFRED TEVES G.m.b.H. 30 May, 1969 [1 June, 1968], No. 27472/69. Heading F2E. A spot-type disc brake comprises a U-shaped brake carrier 3 straddling a brake disc and containing brake pads movable in a cut-out therein and a U-shaped caliper 2 also straddling the disc and being slidably mounted in the brake carrier 3 such that actuation of one brake pad by an actuator, e.g. piston (Fig. 1, not shown) in the caliper actuates the other pad through the reaction force set up thereby. Two spring members 10, 7 are mounted on a pin 11 housed in the caliper one 7 of the spring members, being supported by its arms on the brake carrier 3 to prevent tilting thereof relatively to the brake carrier 3 and the other 10 of the spring members engaging the brake pads to urge them radially inwardly with respect to the brake disc. In the construction disclosed the spring members are connected slidably to the pin by a resilient friction ring (Fig. 1, not shown). The pin 11 is demountable such that the brake pads may be taken from the disc brake. The caliper may be mounted around the brake carrier (Figs. 4, 5, not shown).
