1480069 Rotary evaporator A GODWARD 17 Oct 1974 [6 Oct 1973] 46789/73 Heading BIB An evaporator comprises an outer vessel (1), at least one chamber (4) connected to an external heat source, a plurality of closed delivery pipes (10) extending from a common central rotatable feed pipe (7), each delivery pipe having perforations along one edge only so that jets of liquid to be evaporatel issuing therefrom will cause pipes 10 and 7 to rotate, a vapour outlet (2) and a concentrated liquid outlet (3). The leading edge of each delivery pipe may act as a wiper for removing deposits from the heating surfaces (4). Arrays of such evaporators may be employed in series or parallel. The desalination of sea water is described.
