Abstract

1479361 Tape dispensers and roll holders AVERY PRODUCTS CORP 8 July 1974 [9 July 1973] 30116/74 Heading B8M [Also in Division B6] A tape magazine M for use with a printer P including means for detachably supporting the magazine, a print head 202, an associated impression platen 7a and tape feeder drive means for actuating the magazine comprises a tape supply holder, a tape feeder mechanism and elongated guide means defining a feed path, the guide means being presettable laterally of its length, and the feeder mechansim comprising a movable tape-engagement means operable positively to feed tape, and a drive member arranged to effect a mechanical drive interconnection with the drive means of the printer when the magazine is attached to the printer, the drive member being actuatable repetitively to cause the tapeengagement means to execute repetitive feeding motions for advancing tape, the feeding motion being presettable so that the tape stops in a desired position in alignment with the print head when the feeding motion of the tapeengagement means ceases. The supply may be a roll of tape supported by hub 81 (Fig. 29) rotatably mounted to support 21, having a bore 82 with radial slots accommodating fingers 89 mounted on a slidable plug 96 within the bore. The fingers may be rotatable from the position shown in Figs. 1 and 29 to a position parallel to the axis of hub 81 to allow removal of the roll. Outer hub 87 is movable mounted on hub 81 to accommodate different tape widths. Printing machine P may also include a cutter actuatable in synchronism with the feeding and printing operations.
