Abstract

147,834. Rogers, G. D. March 7, 1919, [Convention date]. Fats and fatty oils, extracting.-In the electrolytic extraction of cod-liver or other oil, the comminuted mass is sent by a pump 6 through tubes 1<a>, 1<b>, 1<c>, which, with axial electrodes 4a, 4<b>, 4<c>, form electrolytic cells; it then passes to a centrifugal or other separator 8. The tubes are preferably enclosed in a box 5 which may serve as a steam-jacket. Fluid may be added to the mass to make it flow satisfactorily, and common salt or other salt may be added to increase its conductivity.
