Abstract
1477311 Refuse compactor SHELVOKE & DREWRY Ltd 3 June 1974 [1 June 1973] 26401/73 Heading B8C The compactor plate 6 of a refuse compactor is mounted by arms 22 on the body of the compactor at 29 for angular movement and is moved into and out of a line 42 by an hydraulic or pneumatic ram 36 acting on a linkage 10, 12 connecting the plate to the body at 16. Links 10 are pivoted to a backing plate 20 which is rigidly secured to the arms 22. The plate 6 is pivotally carried by the backing plate 20 and engages a surface 34 of the plate 20 when retracted and surface 54 of the plate 20 and a flange 50 on the back 10 when advanced into the bin. The ram 36 is activated when a counterbalanced door 44 is closed over a refuse loading aperture. The bin is carried by a platform 56 mounted on links 60 for movement by a ram between a lower forward loading position and a raised rearward operational position.
