Abstract

1473924 Surgical masks JOHNSON & JOHNSON 1 Nov 1974 [1 Nov 1973] 47359/ 74 Heading A5T A surgical mask has a pleated air previous body 21 bound at the edges by tapes 23, 24, 25 which are extended to form tie strings 28, the body including a bacteria filter and at its upper part an air impervious sheet 30 which is attached to either the inner or outer surface or extends from the outer surface over the upper edge to the inner surface, or there are two sheets, one on each surface, or the sheet is embedded in the body. The sheet may be made of plastics, a non woven fabric or paper, with further strips of the material secured to the side and bottom edges, and be secured either by stitching, heat bonding or adhesive. The bacteria filter may be glass or plastics fibres and tapes 28 elasticated biased fabric. In a modification, Fig. 13, the mask is contoured and made of thermoplastics or rayon fibre with an elastic string 81 and air impervious strip 83. A nose clip 27, 82 is provided in both embodiments.
