Abstract

1473019 Photographic copiers SCOTT PAPER CO 7 April 1975 [8 April 1974] 14213/75 Heading G2A A method of holding a photo-sensitive film 15 on a carrier 12 and detecting correct placement comprises applying a vacuum to the film on an alignment surface on the carrier, the surface having air-pervious passages of a size and location to form a closed vacuum system only when the film 15 is correctly placed, and means, e.g. a switch 25, for detecting the presence or absence of the vacuum. The film 15 is placed on the carrier 12 externally of the apparatus by means of asymmetrically positioned pins (34, 35) on the carrier, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown). A pump 24 is started, and when the vacuum has been attained, the switch 25 operates a motor 28 to lower the parts 12, 15 into the apparatus, and loss of vacuum causes reverse operation of the motor to return the parts to the loading position. The passages in the carrier 12 may be provided by a ceramic portion (36). Incorrect placing of the film 15 may be indicated by a lamp energized by the switch 25.
