Abstract

1472383 Bromination of diphenyl oxide ISC CHEMICALS Ltd 23 Jan 1976 [24 Jan 1975] 3123/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises a process for the bromination of diphenyl oxide to give a product containing at least 6 bromine atoms per mole wherein the diphenyloxide is reacted with bromine in the presence of aluminium bromide and wherein at least the final stages of the bromination reaction are carried out in the presence of at least 5 moles of dibromomethane per mole of diphenyl oxide.
