Abstract
1,143,930. α - Bromohexafluoro - isobutyric acid derivatives. INSTITUT FœR SILIKONUND FLUORKARBON-CHEMIE. 1 Jan., 1968, No. 105/68. Heading C2C. α - Bromohexafluoro - isobutyryl fluoride, (CF 3 ) 2 CBrCOF, is obtained by heating an α,# - dibromoheptafluoro - isobutyl alkyl ether, (CF 3 )2CBr-CBrF-OAlk., wherein Alk. is an alkyl radical, in the presence of calcium chloride. Alkyl α-bromohexafluoro-isobutyrates may be obtained by reacting the above product with alcohols or they may be produced directly by conducting the above reaction in the presence of alcohols. Alkyl bromides are produced in the above reaction as by-products.
