Abstract

1471367 Container and closure NESTLE SA 19 July 1974 [24 Aug 1973] 32103/74 Heading B8T A container 1 is closed by a lid 3 which is held in position by hook members 5 integral with a depending skirt 4, engaging an annular bead 2 at the container mouth, the lid being removable by rotating it relative to the container thereby causing abutting members 7 to engage bulges 6 in the container neck, this resulting in depending skirt 4 being forced outward until hook members 5 and annular bead 2 disengage. Bulges 6 in addition facilitate removal of the lid by forcing the latter away from the container mouth as it is rotated; and aid replacement of the lid by guiding the hook members 5 into the troughs between the bulges as the lid is pressed on to the container neck. Each hook member 5 and its associated abutting member 7 may be replaced by a single projection serving both purposes.
