Abstract
1467518 Fuel injection pumps ROTO DIESEL 8 March 1974 [14 March 1973] 10462/74 Addition to 1414674 Heading F1A In a rotary distributer fuel injection pump according to the main patent (1414674) wherein the maximum permitted outward excursions of the radial pumping plungers 15 are determined by the abutment of roller shoes 33 with the ends of a leaf-spring stop 36, the contacting surfaces of the shoes and the ends of the leaf-spring are complementarily inclined. Thus axial displacement of the carrier 19, 20, 21 results in a proportional change in the maximum outward strokes of the plungers. Displacement of the carrier is effected by fuel pressure actuated rams 37 having reduced diameter ends extending through respective holes in a stop plate 38 into contact with the carrier. After a predetermined displacement the large diameter part of the rams 37 abuts and then takes with it the stop plate 38 until the latter contacts a maximum fuel stop member 39. Accordingly stop member 39 determines the maximum amount of fuel which can be supplied during normal operation. The actual amount of fuel supplied is controlled by means (not shown). The axial position of the member 39 is manually adjustable by a tapered member 40. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), an additional pair of plungers is provided, each plunger having a tongued and grooved outer surface co-operating with a complementarily shaped surface on the leaf stop as described in the main patent. The fuel delivered by the additional plungers may be separate from, or combined with, the fuel delivered by the plungers 15.
