1466356 Article-receiving devices DIEBOLD Inc 17 April 1974 [3 May 1973] 16703/74 Heading A4T A bank depository I comprises a deposit chest 4, an entry slot 13, a security chamber 19, powerdriven means 35 for conveying deposit envelopes 87 through the chamber 19, and rocking door means 59 having barriers 62, 63 for allowing the chamber 19 to communicate alternately with the entry slot 13 and the chest 4. The depository 1 may be placed in an active state by depressing a button 88 or by means of a key or personal card, a rotary solenoid 65 positioning the door 59 so that an envelope 87 maybe inserted through a slot 64, whereupon it engages between the means 35 and follower rolls 42, the means 35 being driven by a motor 31 activated on pressing the button, &c. The envelope 87 is drawn into the chamber 19, raising the rolls 42 against a spring 41 until passage of the end of the envelope 87 causes the rolls 42 to drop, actuating a switch 43 to stop the motor 31 and pivot the door means 59 to close off the slot 13 and open the chamber 19 to the chest 4. Pointers 69, 70 are operated to print identifying marks respectively on the envelope 87 and a receiptforming web 79. Pusher fingers 54, 55 on chains 51 driven by a motor 49 then push the envelope 87 out of the chamber 19, photo-electric means 67, 68 being actuated as the envelope 87 falls through a discharge chute 29 to cause a feed roll 83 and shear means 86 to deliver the corresponding receipt 85 through a slot 14. Alternatively, Fig. 10 (not shown), envelopes 87 may be fed through the chamber 19 by driven belts (95) co-operating with pinch rolls (100-102), and the switch 43 may be replaced by photo-electric means (103), (104). Also on-the-fly printing means may be provided.
