Turntables.-Consists in providing turntables for railway guns with a central member C which runs on an inner track E and has a cavity c<2> to provide free space for the breech end of the gun when firing at high angles of elevation. ' In the form shown in Fig. 1, the bridge of the turntable comprises side members A, B, the outer ends of which run on a track D, the inner ends being hinged to a central member C running on a ball race E. Rails F<1> on the member C are in line with rails F on the members A, B when the gun carriage is run on to the turntable with the gun in the horizontal position. To allow the breech end of the gun to pass into the cavity c<2>, the rails F<1> are attached. to a platform G adapted to be moved laterally on rails g<1>. In a modification, shown in plan in Fig. 4, the laterally moving platform is replaced by a rotary platform K carrying rails F<2> and a cavity c<2> for the gun breech. When the gun carriage is to be brought on to the turntable, the platform K is rotated to bring the rails F<2> into line with the rails F and the cavity c<2> is then bridged by rails loosely inserted between the rails F<2> or pivotally attached to one end thereof.
