Abstract
1463072 Transfer printing SHOE & ALLIED TRADES RESEARCH ASSOCIATION 14 June 1974 [14 March 1973 31 Oct 1973] 12264/73 and 50673/73 Heading B6C Plastics articles are printed by first coating with a film of polymeric material other than copolymers or homopolymers of vinyl chloride, and then applying a substrate carrying a dye under temperature conditions to effect transfer of the dye. The dye is preferably transferred at a temperature below its volatilization or sublimation temperature. The film of polymeric material may be microcellular or contain particulate material. The printing may be effected during moulding or embossing, e.g. of a shoe upper. The film of polymeric material may be of polyurethane, an acrylic resin, polymethylmethacrylate or polyglutamate.
