Abstract
1462537 Boilers; heat exchanger tube supports L N ARTEMOV A A BILYAVSKY S N VIVSIK N V ZOZULYA V I MANAENKOV V F MOSKVICHEV and E A FADEEV 18 April 1974 16965/74 Headings F4A and F4S A heat exchanger for heating or cooling liquids or gases (e.g. water, steam or a mixture thereof) comprises groups 5 of parallel longitudinally-finned tubes disposed in a shell 1, spacing means for the individual tubes comprising (as shown in Fig. 5) corrugated strips 24 together forming a plurality of cells 23 each adapted to encircle a non-finned portion (14, Fig. 4) of one of the tubes, and a continuous band 25 encircling the strips 24 of each tube group. On the external perimeter of each band 25 are projections 26 and corrugated elements 27 which co-operate in the manner shown in Fig. 6 to serve as spacing means between adjacent tube groups, the tube assembly being supported on a grating 4. As shown in Fig. 1 each tube group extends between inlet and outlet sub-headers (19, 20, Fig. 3) which are connected via tubes 7 and 9 with main inlet and outlet headers 6, 8. The shell 1 has an inlet 2 and outlet 3 for the fluid flowing over the tubes. Partitions (13, Fig. 3) are arranged around the tube assembly between it and the shell 1 to guide the shell-side fluid more closely around the tubes.
