Abstract

1369321 Tubular heat exchangers SVENSKA MASKINVERKEN AB 26 July 1972 [26 May 1972] 34991/72 Heading F4S A tubular heat exchanger, particularly for use as an oil preheater or cooler, comprises a nest of tubes 10 closely surrounded by an inner casing 16 of sheet metal, the inner casing 16 being disposed, with play, within a two-part outer casing 1, 2. As shown the tubes 10 have surface enlarging elements 15 in the form of pin-like projections arranged in parallel rows, selected pins being bent so that the envelope surrounding each tube and its pin projections has an hexagonal cross-section. Filling bodies 20 may be arranged between the inner casing 16 and certain of the outer tubes to give a cylindric shape to the tube nest. An annular seal 19 is located between an inwardly extending flange 18 on the outer casing and an outwardly extending flange 17 on the inner casing. Inner tubes 11 are arranged within the tubes 10, their free ends being supported by blocks 12; the other ends of the inner tubes are fastened in tube plates 13, 14. In use a first fluid, e.g. hot water, entering through an inlet 5 flows through the inner tubes 11 and back between the inner tubes 11 and tubes 10 to finally leave through an outlet 6. A second fluid, e.g. oil, entering through inlet 7 flows over the tubes 10 and leaves through outlet 8. A number of longitudinally extending guide bars 21 are provided to facilitate insertion and removal of the tube nest.
