Abstract

1461044 Foam generator; nozzles G ROTVAND 25 March 1975 [12 March 1975] 12428/75 Headings B1C and B2F In a foam generator having a mixing tube 5 with air-aspirating apertures 8, foam-forming solution is delivered through a hose to a nozzle 1 which increases stepwise or continuously (Fig. 3, not shown) in the direction of flow and terminates in an orifice plate having a central orifice 7; and the internal surface of the tube 5 is rough over at least a portion of its length. The rough surface may be formed in casting or may be a lining 9 of wire mesh or of plastics filaments less than 2 mm in diameter. The diameter of the orifice 7 is preferably not more than 2/3 of the greatest diameter of the nozzle and its length not more than 1/10 of the rough portion of the tube 1; and the length of the nozzle is preferably at least ¥ of its greatest diameter. The generator may be part of a fire fighting lance.
